We're the Doodlebops, OH YEAH.

Went to the L.A. Times Festival of Books today. On the Target stage, every kid's dream: Doodlebops and Johnny and the Sprites.
More here. (I know, I keep sending you to the other blog, but I can't help it, why write twice??)

Yep, Another Bag

I recently bought a lot of stuff at Target. I only went in to get some Pampers (for my nephews, I swear!). But, there were pants that I needed for work on sale and I also seem to be at short supply of shirts. I got several things in my typical colors of orange, brown, tan, black, but for some reason got a little preppy and bought green pants and a pink shirt! I haven't worn them together, and I don't plan to. However, if I do, I could carry this bag I bought:

When Did I Become So Preppy?

I normally wouldn't say it's "me," but I kept going back to it.

Tops Under $2!

Wasn't planning on going into Target but the little one wanted to go. So after our planned trip to Staples, we stopped by Target. I couldn't pass up these tops. They were on the 75% off rack for $1.48 each!! They were in the girls section.

Pajama Party

I'm going to a pajama party tomorrow night. It's a friend's 40th birthday shindig and the theme is "Playboy Mansion Style Pajama Party."
Per the evite:

Girls should wear something classy and within their comfort level...Bikinis/Bathing Suits with robes, one piece bathing suit or slinky black dress with bunny accessories, corset with skirt, cute pj's with sexy top... Of Course Anything Playboy or Bunny goes!

Um, no. I'm not in very good shape and not all that comfortable with my body right now. I don't even own a "slinky" black dress. And I'm just not that classy. So, I looked for footie pajamas with bunnies on them, in order to keep with the theme, but all the stores have put those things away. So, I went to Target and got these:

Sock monkey pajamas! I also got some slippers that are similar to the ones I saw back in March, but aren't as cushy and have an open toe. The great thing is that I'll have these to wear after the party.

Cash Was Burning A Hole in My Purse

Got some cash last week. I decided a trip to Target would be nice. Walked out about $70 poorer!

My girls are forever growing so I had to get some more clothes for them. The youngest got this sleep dress ($7.99).

She also got an ice cream tank top ($4.99) and pink shorts ($4.99).

The oldest got these pink pants on sale for $3.98. This will be good for her to lounge around at home during the winter time.

Got hubby something too. A computer game. It was on sale for $9.99. We LOVE Howl's Moving Castle ($19.99) so when I saw it I had to get it too.

Have you tried these yet? I tried the milk chocolate ones. I hope these are just as good. They were on sale for 2 for $5.

root of all evil

I went to Target to buy envelopes, that's it, I swear. I came out of there with this:

Three kinds of root beer?? Damn straight. For a purpose of course. The small ones are for when I just want a few sips. The bottled ones were for a super secret baking project. The root beer float ones? Well, just to taste, but you can read all about how eloquently I wrote about that - here.

Nicole by OPI nailpolish

Did you know OPI has a line of drugstore nailpolish they're selling at Target? It's called Nicole by OPI. I'm glad to have an alternative to Revlon and Sally Hansen, and I love the regular OPI colors, so I grabbed one on a 10-minute Target drive by today. They run about $7.50 (so they're comparable or even a little more than regular OPI in a beauty supply shop). I read on another site that, "their 'Colors With a Conscience' program provides a portion of the cost of each polish to be donated to five organizations: the Starbright Foundation, Rock The Vote, Oceana, Gilda's Club and Project Hope."

The Nicole line claims to be free of DBP, tolulene and formaldehyde (I don't know what DBP and tolulene are, but I'm sure I don't need them in my nail polish) and have recyclable packaging. Oh, and the shelf label at Target said they are salon quality and quick drying. Perfect for painting my toenails in the (parked) car on the way to a wedding shower! I chose "Deeply in Love" - a perfect shade for a day celebrating a new bride- and groom-to-be!

(Shout out to Nanette and Jenn for letting me post here! I love Target as much as the rest of y'all, but I don't usually shop with a camera...)

The Unwanted House Guest

I've been to Target a bunch of times over the last few weeks, to buy assorted things, but have neglected to post here.

But, after seeing something on the news (similar article here) about dust mites in my pillows, I shot out the door to buy replacement pillows @ Target for every bed in the house.

I bought nine pillows.

I am so over my Target budget for the month, but now at least I can sleep without nightmares of the dust mites. I've moved onto nightmares about bed bugs.

Cereality

You know when you have half a box of cereal? That drives me nuts. I realize I am overly organized, but I hate the idea of 'open' cereal boxes and my kids are too little to eat it fast enough. So I found these nice snap lock containers that are half the size of a normal cereal box, so they can handle my dregs. They also stack quite nicely too.Now if I can just get the rest of the house organized.

Price check

Well, I just checked and those mini individual Simply Lemonades that I just wrote about, were only $1.29 at my Target! I recently went to Disneyland and saw the same ones at a concessions stand:

That's right. $4.50. Good lord.

Drink up

Back in March I wrote about how I found Simply Lemonade on the cheap at Target compared to other stores. On my last trip I found this:
Itty bitty single size! So lame, I know. But I love tiny things. Relatively, it'd be cheaper for me to buy a big bottle, but I am in love.

Note: The limeade is kind of nasty. Then again, I am sick. But that Simply Lemonade? SMMOOOTH, baby.

lost and found

My MIL. Every time she comes (that's every 3 months - with a stay of at least 4 weeks) she loses something. EVERY. TIME.

There was that one time that she 'thought' she lost her jacket at the airport (keep in mind, she had flown in two weeks prior) she made me AND my newborn child go down and rummage through airport lost and found only to find out that it was at home. In our house. In her luggage.

Then there was the time that, again, she lost her jacket. This time at a department store. She took it off to try on clothes...gone. She swears someone stole it. I think they put it back on the rack cause after all it was bought in that store in the first place.

Then there was the time she lost her newly bought items at another store the mall. She left her bag somewhere, god knows.

THEN the last time she was here, she swore that all her most expensive jewelry was thrown out when she cleaned my house. Why you would bring all your expensive shit on a vacation, I have no idea. She thought someone would break into her house while she was away, I say put it in a safety deposit box before you leave, for god's sakes. Anyway. Days of her near crying, complaining that her jewelry was gone forever. I'd be upset too, but I kept telling her their had to be a logical reason and it HAD to be somewhere and there was no reason to jump to conclusions. She said, "I like to jump to conclusions." That's it. The crazy ass was on her own at that point. After years of this torture, I was over it. And what happened? I was right. It was in a the luggage that her husband had taken back home, when he left on an earlier flight.

She is coming back here next month, granted - at my request. I know, I'm an idiot. However, this time I am prepared as I bought this for her at Target:
A travel jewelry organizer. On sale for $11.99 in the travel section. It's really cool, and hopefully she's use the damn thing. Who knows what she'll lose this time though...
