Easter Sale

I'm waiting for a new sofa so I had to time my run this morning. Target opens at 8AM and I have to be back before 10AM. I wanted to get some of the Easter stuff before it was all gone. First priority was Easter placemats. Just barely got the 6 I needed. Ended up getting a Thomas Easter Train set for 50% off ($7.49). The youngest is playing with it now. I also got the girls Easter t-shirts at 50% off ($2 each). The painting stuff is also on sale. Good thing because we started to paint the inside of our house. Never can have too much blue tape! Can't wait to see what everyone else found on sale!!

Booo!

Ya know what I hate? Finding out that Target is closed on Easter - the hard way!

Empty parking lot = empty heart.

UPDATE: I didn't even SEE Jenn's post below before I posted mine. Great minds shop alike!

Easter sucks.

Worst. Easter. Ever. I drove to Target and it was closed. Is this not America??

Go Speed Racer.

Curse you Target Easter aisle. You are trying to kill me with your cuteness. I am not much of an Easter person, except for Hello Kitty eggs, of course. But I saw these Snoopy candy cars and they stopped me in my tracks. They aren't very Easter-y but I think they are supposed to be basket fillers or something.

They were so cute I couldn't stand it. And for under $2 not a bad deal at all.

overload

I went to Target twice yesterday, TWICE. Granted they were two different ones, but still. We all know a pharmacy run can put a kink in things.

In viewing these comments here I notice a trend, that I thought was just me, how you go in for one thing...and end up with 40. Why do I do this? Why do you do this?

The stuff I didn't go in for? Obviously seasonal stuff is a big thing for me. Candy. Organizational crap. What I really want to know is, what is it that sneaks into your cart and onto the conveyor belt?

Priorities

I recently went to Target specifically to buy a hairdryer as mine literally sparked and smoked the day before. Of course, everyone knows it's impossible to leave Target with only one item, right? Well, I picked up a few things while strolling the aisles then checked out and was so proud of myself for spending less than $50 during my visit.

As I unpacked my purchases at home, I realized that although I bought Cadbury mini eggs and Peeps (and I'm Jewish and don't even celebrate Easter), a tub to store cookie cutters, another book I probably won't get to reading for a few weeks, mascara, Kleenex, and paper towel, there was one thing I completely forgot.

You guessed it--I forgot the hairdryer. I went to Target specifically for one thing, somehow managed to spend $50, and didn't buy the hairdryer. I then made a return trip, sans shopping cart, and bought the hairdryer. And another tub. And some more Peeps. And well, you get the idea.

Eggs over easy

Easter has come too quickly. Unprepared, I ran down to Target and strolled the aisles for inspiration. The kids needed 15 filled eggs each to take to school. I bought a bag of12 pre-filled ones, then some empty ones for them to have some fun with.
Every year Target has THE cutest eggs, this year character eggs are all the rage. Cars? What boy doesn't love cars? Hello Kitty? What 30+ year old woman doesn't love Hello Kitty? Oops, I mean...

I love these things so much I am giving them away, go over to justJENN rants for your change to win a Hello Kitty egg head of your very own!

Sale Items

Hubby had me bring his computer to work. Well, I got stuck in terrible traffic. A good excuse for some shopping therapy at Target. I went in to get shower cleaner but came out with over $40 worth of stuff.

The oldest need a sleep dress replace. They were either $15 for a Hello Kitty one or $10 for the Target brand. So instead I got these 2 sets for $10! Is it just me or do these things shrink like crazy and are cut small? I seem to have to buy like one or two sizes larger then what they normally wear. The youngest wanted the chicks. Pink for the oldest ALWAYS.

We have a trip on Sunday. So I got these Crayola Color Wonder sets. The Disney Princess one was $6 and the other one was at 20% off (about $7). The youngest has a thing for Dora.

We all scream for IDOL ice cream!

I eat too much, don't I? All of my posts here are about food and this one is no different.

Target is currently carrying Edy's special edition American Idol ice cream. Mint Karaoke Cookie is perfect because it combines my two favorite ice cream flavors - cookies n' cream and mint chocolate chip. Plus there's no annoying hard chunks of chocolate in it. I haven't tried the Cookies n' Dreams just yet, but I'm willing to bet it's just as delicious.

All Edy's Slow Churned ice cream (the best ice cream on the planet) is on sale now 2 for $6. Who cares if it's snowing here in Chicagoland? The sun just peeked out, so that's good enough for me.

Fat Bottomed Girls, They'll Be Riding Today

I rode my bike today. Yeah, I know, no big deal right? It sort of was because it had been a very long time. We rode on a bike path and at one point, I had to pass E. He joked that I should have a bell. Later in the evening, we stopped briefly at Target. We didn't find what we were looking for, but they did have this rad bike bell for a little less than $4. It sounds cool and I can't wait to use it next time we go for a spin.

*Disclaimer: I <3 all of my pets, just in case there is any confusion.

When life gives you lemons...

We have added a few 'shoppers' on the side to help out around here. I can tell you that I shop a lot, I just rarely have time to blog about it. Even if it's simple stuff, I like to know what OTHER people pick up when they make their Target run.

For me, I love lemonade. Fresh from scratch is absolutely the best, but then I came across this:

Simply Lemonade. And it is. Simple. It is so good and so close to homemade, I was shocked. I also drank several bottles tout de suite. I picked it up wherever I saw it, but I found something interesting:

Whole Foods: $4.99
Ralphs: $3
Target: $2.49

And we have a winner! Wow, at $2.49 I could get TWO bottles for the price of the cost of one at Whole Foods. Screw you Whole Foods. Not only did you cripple me, but now you are trying to jip me out of my precious lemonade? Rude.

I Had To Grab A Shopping Cart!

So, it was a typical Target trip. I went in for two simple items and spent $200! Yikes! I'm sure that's happened to others to though, right? I needed to get some mouthwash and some of the bacon-flavored gravy my dogs love on their food. Target seems to be the only place that carries the bacon flavor. Otherwise, they get roast beef.
What I Went To Target For Today

It started with the orange tote bag style purse that caught my eye. I grabbed a new wallet too. Then, I remembered how desperately I need some pants for work. Being super short, I have trouble finding pants that both fit the width of my butt and don't drag on the floor. So, I discovered these "convertible" pants. You can roll them up and button them in place. Perfect! I got them in three colors. I also picked up some t-shirt type tops. They are inexpensive and easy. I also picked up a pair of kids' Converse one-stars. Yes, my feet are small!

Other Things I Came Home With

I dress pretty casually for work, out of necessity. I work with kids and am often crawling on the floor with them. Literally. And yes, I realize I'm kind of stuck on earth tones with a little orange and red thrown in.

So add in a jumbo pack of toilet paper and my trip for mouthwash and dog gravy cost me $200! Mostly all necessary though.

A Lightning McQueen Easter.

Crap, I cannot escape. It's partly my own fault. Target had a million cute little Cars-themed things in the $1 spot the other day. I bought a bunch, along with some M&M's and an Easter bunny Pez dispenser. This Easter, Will is going to shit, he'll be so happy.

Market Pantry Chicken Strips

If you haven't tried Target's Market Pantry chicken strips yet, I highly recommend you do. I discovered them about two months ago and have been hooked ever since. They're unique in that there's actually meat in there, not just a bunch of breading, and it's all white meat. When they come out of the oven they are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. They're not that bad microwaved either. You can have them plain, with dip, or as a part of a larger recipe.

Sweet & Sour Chicken: Ingredients

So far I've made chicken caesar salad and sweet & sour chicken using them.

Snacky snack

On the weekends, if the kids and I don't have a big day planned, we probably do errands. You can guess where.

I usually find myself there between 10 and 11, which is snack time for these kiddies. At the Target snack bar, you can get a popcorn and a drink for just $1.50. Which is good news since the popcorn alone is a $1 and the drink is a little more than that. This deal is ESPECIALLY good if you get a nice cashier who will give you two kids cups instead of one big one and then you can fill it with icees. Mmmm. So unhealthy, so delicious.

I like this deal. It also works wonders in keeping the kids quiet while you stroll through the store.
